How To Write Vinted Descriptions

Whilst taking high-quality pictures is crucial to attracting buyers to your listing, a well-rounded description and pricing strategy will seal the deal. Buyer's can only shop with confidence if they know exactly what is being offered to them - so tell them! But what does that look like?

Let's start with a descriptive title. Once your captivating pictures have enticed an individual to click on your item, the title is the first line they will read, giving you the chance to let them know exactly what they are looking at. Try to include all key information like the brand, colour, item type and any features that stand out to you. Take this shirt I sold as an example. Instead of just "Shirt", try "Burberry Blue Long-Sleeve Checked Shirt". I found this prompted more engagement on my listings as they ranked higher on the search list, as well as reducing the number of questions in my inbox.

The next all important stage is crafting a thorough description. You don't want to leave the customer guessing, so be as specific as possible. Here's what to include:

Brand and Sizing - State what brand the item comes from and the exact size, including details on how it fits, such as "true to size" or "baggy fit".

Condition - Mention whether the item is like new, lightly used or pre-owned, and be sure to highlight any flaws it might have. Honesty is key at this stage.

Material - If you know what fabric your item is made of, this can be beneficial to include (e.g., cotton, nylon, wool)

Additional Details - Include unique details that stand out to you such as buttons, zips or patterns.

Below is an example of an informative description I provided for the shirt I sold -

Now all that's left to do is decide on a price. I'd advise browsing Vinted first to get an idea of where similar items are priced, and using the handy feature that shows what similar items sold for to gauge what a reasonable price for your item is. Don't be afraid to price your items on the higher end of the scale if they are in excellent condition or are from a branded name. I have found that the Vinted community loves to low-ball, so this gives you a little more room to negotiate on your prices.
